Selena Gomez’s Bold Wedding-Guest Fashion Choice Sparks Controversy

In the realm of weddings, a realm where love and joy converge, an age-old convention warns against donning the color black, often associated with somber themes such as death and grief. Wearing black to a wedding was once seen as an unspoken symbol of disapproval, a shadow cast upon the couple’s union. It was like shouting to the cosmos, “I hold no regard for the romantic destiny of this pair.”

However, we find ourselves in an era far removed from Victorian sensibilities, and it was Selena Gomez who dared to defy convention when she attended the nuptials of her former beau, Samuel Krost, the talent booker known for his involvement in the infamous Fyre Festival. Gomez chose to clothe herself entirely in black, adorning an ethereal silk dress paired with Jimmy Choo stilettos and clutching Aupen’s dazzling, crystal-surfaced Miracle bag.

Rather than veering off the beaten path, Gomez appeared to be following in the footsteps of modern-day icons like Zoë Kravitz and Kendall Jenner, both of whom boldly sported Little Black Dresses (LBDs) at weddings, such as Margaret Qualley and Lauren Perez’s. In another striking instance, Sofia Richie’s entire squad of bridesmaids donned black gowns. If Gomez aimed to challenge superstition head-on, she might as well have embraced irony by wearing an actual bridal gown, much like the likes of Nicki Minaj, Maude Apatow, Chloe Cherry, and Julia Fox, all of whom have graced the red carpet donning outfits reminiscent of vengeful spinsters from the 19th century.
