In a music scene that’s often driven by trends and instant gratification, Rusher and Yami Safdie bring forward a refreshingly emotional and thoughtful collaboration with “Justo Ahora,” a standout track from Rusher’s debut album Casa 11. Speaking to Billboard Argentina ahead of the album’s release, the two artists open up about their creative journey, the deeper meaning behind their music, and how love continues to be both their inspiration and vulnerability.

Casa 11 is not just Rusher’s first album—it’s a personal and astrological declaration. Named after the singer’s Taurus placement in the 11th house, the album is a portrayal of the future version of himself that he wants the world to meet. Filled with heartfelt ballads, artistic transformation, and powerful collaborations, it marks a significant step in his evolution. Shot entirely in New York City, its visual landscape echoes the emotional depth of the music, with iconic scenes from Central Park, the Chelsea Hotel, and the Brooklyn Bridge forming the backdrop.

Among the many impressive collaborators—such as Khea, Paulo Londra, Luck Ra, Micro TDH, and even jazz legend Ron Carter—it is Yami Safdie’s voice on “Justo Ahora” that brings a distinctive warmth. Though recorded remotely while Yami was in Mexico, the collaboration feels effortless. Rusher, who had previously worked with Yami on the remix of her track “De Nada,” says he envisioned her for this song from the start. Yami admits she felt a moment of hesitation—unsure if she could live up to the song’s already perfect essence—but soon found the words flowed naturally once she connected emotionally with the message.

The song itself is a romantic reflection on daring to love in a time where emotional detachment seems to be the norm. “Justo ahora que el amor pasó de moda…”—a lyric penned by Yami—confronts the growing fear of vulnerability and the societal reluctance to emotionally invest. Yami believes people today are more hesitant to take emotional risks, fearing heartbreak and discomfort. Yet, as she notes, that very vulnerability is what makes love meaningful. Rusher agrees, admitting that every day in love carries the risk of heartbreak, but that’s what makes it real.

Even though Rusher is publicly in a relationship with singer Ángela Torres, and Yami maintains a lower profile, both acknowledge how love puts them in a deeply sensitive place. They agree that love is worth the risk, especially in a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain. For Rusher, the song carries immense personal significance. He put a lot of heart into writing it and felt an immediate connection when he heard Yami’s verses. Their mutual appreciation and artistic synergy shine through every note.

When asked about the inspiration for the track, Rusher shares that he wanted to talk about meaningful topics and reflect on the importance of love in a chaotic world. While Yami’s lyrics acknowledge a societal skepticism toward love, they also offer hope—that if the stars align and the opportunity arises, we should embrace it fearlessly. The two artists are not only singing about love—they’re embodying its fragility and strength through their art.

Both agree that strong emotions, whether from heartbreak or being in love, are equally powerful creative catalysts. For Yami, songwriting is often a reflection of human relationships and the way we interact with each other. For Rusher, his journey alongside fellow artists like FMK, Tiago PZK, and Lit Killah has emphasized the importance of collaboration and community in their generation’s music.

“Justo Ahora” is more than a love song. It’s a message, a feeling, and a moment captured by two artists unafraid to explore the depths of vulnerability. In a time when emotional detachment is fashionable, Rusher and Yami Safdie invite us to feel everything—just now.
