“To embody such a classically cool man… it felt really cool to step into that character”

That’s how Chase Sui Wonders describes her transformation into a modern-day James Dean for the striking new Levi’s x Sacai campaign—a fusion of Americana denim heritage and bold Japanese design innovation.

Set against the gritty streets of New York, the campaign evokes the rebellious energy of Rebel Without a Cause, with Wonders donning reconstructed jackets, exaggerated wide-leg jeans, and a reversible bomber that might just rewrite the rules of off-duty cool. The pieces, pulled from Sacai’s Spring/Summer 2025 menswear runway, reflect the capsule’s core ethos: honoring timeless silhouettes while defying traditional structure.

“I felt it as soon as I put the clothes on,” Wonders tells Voke Magazine “The pieces fit so perfectly into that reference.” The capsule pays homage to James Dean’s effortlessly iconic look—think white tees, denim, and defiance—and no one wears it better than Hollywood’s current It Girl.

But Wonders isn’t just playing dress-up in the ghosts of cinema past—she’s living the legacy. As a rising star with an already stacked résumé, she’s sharing scenes with some of the industry’s most celebrated names. On The Studio, which wraps its first season this week, she calls her experience working with Seth Rogen, Catherine O’Hara, and Ike Barinholtz “a masterclass in comedy.” More than just screen partners, they became mentors.

“They were so generous and ready to take me under their wing and teach me,” she says

Looking ahead, fans can expect more of the same offbeat brilliance from The Studio’s second season. Without giving away spoilers, she hints at deepening the emotional core of what she calls a “traveling circus family,” whose chaotic lives in the world of filmmaking only grow more intricate.

But perhaps the most buzzworthy turn for Wonders comes in the 2025 sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer, where she stars alongside original cast members Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. “Watching them act together was one of the more surreal moments of my career,” she admits. The project isn’t just a retread—it’s a reinvention.

“It’s not your average sequel, and the way they come back is such a testament to the project”

From denim-clad rebel muse to fearless performer on screen, Chase Sui Wonders continues to chart her own path—cool, candid, and completely unstoppable.
