For A$AP Rocky, fashion is more than aesthetics — it’s personal history. “I remember years by outfits,” the rapper and style trailblazer says. Every look he’s worn carries a memory, a vibe, a story worth revisiting.

Long before their relationship blossomed, Rocky featured Rihanna in his 2013 music video Fashion Killa. “I just hit up the flyest chick that I knew,” he says. “The song was basically about her. I even dropped her name in it.” Even then, he insists, the connection was undeniable:

“She knew she was my boo back then too”

That same video was directed by the late visionary designer Virgil Abloh. “Working with Virgil was easy. We were kindred spirits,” Rocky reflects. “It was inevitable for him to do great things.” Beyond Virgil, Rocky has long been surrounded by fashion creatives like Alessandro Michele and Jonathan Anderson, often turning to them for inspiration and insight.

Not every look has landed smoothly with the public — and Rocky’s fine with that. Speaking on a bold yellow Balenciaga puffer vest he wore in Milan in 2017, he laughs, “I ain’t gonna lie, they roasted me online for this one… It was tacky but fly. That was my Flavor Flav era.”

Of course, some risks turn into revolutions. His babushka era, where he donned floral silk scarves like an old-school grandma, was a deliberate challenge to fashion’s gender expectations. “I don’t think clothes define masculinity anymore,” Rocky explains.

“I like to play with that. Why can’t guys wear a silk scarf with glasses?”

And then there’s his growing love for bags — or as he prefers, satchels. “We’ve got stuff to put in bags! I shouldn’t have to carry my phone, my brush, my Chapstick in my hands. Nah, put that in the bag,” he jokes. Whether it’s called a murse or a satchel, he owns it. “Look at us now. Fellas, we’re holding it down with our murses and our satchels.”

From streetwear to runway statements, A$AP Rocky continues to redefine modern masculinity through fearless fashion — one iconic look at a time.
