Becky G is entering 2025 with a bold new sound—and she’s doing it with undeniable chemistry. The Mexican-American pop star has just released her first official single of the year, “Qué Haces,” a tropical fusion of merengue and bachata alongside Colombian sensation Manuel Turizo.

Produced by Nup and Ciey, “Qué Haces” marks a distinct departure from Becky G’s recent era of música mexicana, showcased in her 2023 albums Esquinas and Enfiestados. Instead, this single embraces a flirtier, more playful tone—something she describes as “daring” and reflective of modern love.

“It really captures what romantic relationships are like today,” Becky told Billboard in a recent Zoom interview. “We can be super casual or get married tomorrow. That freedom isn’t just in the lyrics—it’s in the vibe. You can literally hear me smiling when you listen. It’s serotonin in a song”

The lyrics center around mutual attraction and the thrill of new possibilities between two people. According to Becky, the concept came together quickly—and when it did, she had one artist in mind: Manuel Turizo.

“As soon as I finished my part, I thought, there’s only one person who can really take this song to the next level. So I hit up Manuel in the DMs,” she confessed. “We both stayed very involved in the creative process. It’s the perfect synergy, no doubt”

The music video, directed by Joey & Joey, was filmed in the heart of Hialeah, Florida. It captures youthful love maturing over time, wrapped in nostalgic visuals, good vibes, and sun-soaked aesthetics. It’s a visual celebration that mirrors the song’s upbeat tone and easy charm.

Beyond the tropical rhythm and vibrant visuals, “Qué Haces” signals a new artistic chapter for Becky G—one that is less about genre and more about evolution.

“After Esquinas and Enfiestados, I can confidently say I’m a genreless artist,” Becky explained. “This song is a growth point for me as both an artist and a woman. I’m not rebranding or leaving anything behind. I’m building something. From now on, no matter what genre I’m in, Becky will always be Becky”
