Mexican-American DJ and producer Deorro has teamed up with rap sensation Santa Fe Klan for a powerful new anthem, “La Bandera,” a high-energy fusion of cumbia, rap, and EDM that pulses with cultural pride and celebration. Released on April 10 under Peso Pluma’s Double P Records, the track is more than just a party starter — it’s a tribute to Mexican and Chicano identity, unapologetically bold in its delivery and message.
“La Bandera,” which translates to “The Flag,” carries a thunderous chorus — “mexicano hasta que muera” (Mexican until I die) — that drives home the spirit of the song. For Mexican and Mexican-American listeners, it’s a declaration of heritage and belonging that resonates deeply
The music video, directed by HeroKids, serves as a vivid celebration of that pride. Set at a backyard house party, Deorro commands the DJ booth while proudly waving a Mexican flag, surrounded by guests rocking classic Chicano streetwear: oversized tees, baggy jeans, heavy gold chains, and bandanas. The scenes are rich with cultural symbolism — from bouncing lowriders cruising through Los Angeles to glowing altars adorned with the Virgen de Guadalupe, a sacred symbol of Mexican Catholic faith.
The energy of “La Bandera” is infectious, capturing not only a sonic fusion of genres but also a visual narrative that honors tradition and street culture alike. Speaking through their music and visuals, both Deorro and Santa Fe Klan express pride without restraint, giving voice to a community often underrepresented in mainstream music.
Both artists, signed to Peso Pluma’s label, have a busy year ahead. According to a press release, “La Bandera” is one of several upcoming releases from Deorro, who is also set to perform at Carta De Amor at Expo Park South Lawn in Los Angeles on May 2
“La Bandera” isn’t just a song — it’s a movement, a moment of unity, and a powerful reminder of where these artists come from. In a music landscape that often dilutes cultural identity, Deorro and Santa Fe Klan stand tall — flag in hand, roots intact.
