Ethel Cain is back with a striking new single, “Fuck Me Eyes,” a candid exploration of teenage anxieties and complicated feelings, ahead of her highly anticipated sophomore album Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You arriving August 8. Hayden Anhedönia, the voice behind Ethel Cain, dives deep into the story of youth, longing, and the tangled emotions around first love. The new track is both an homage to “Bette Davis Eyes” and a raw narrative about a girl burdened with a misunderstood reputation, perfectly setting the tone for the upcoming album.
Written over five years ago, “Fuck Me Eyes” represents the oldest demo on the record and holds a key place in the unfolding story of Ethel’s journey and her crush’s complicated dynamics. The sophomore album serves as a prequel to her 2022 debut Preacher’s Daughter, focusing on Ethel’s first love, Willoughby Tucker, and was crafted over the last year across studios in Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
Fans’ excitement is already palpable as Ethel Cain prepares to take her story worldwide with the Willoughby Tucker Forever tour. Since going on sale in March, tickets have sold out impressively with 170,000 fans ready to join her journey across North America and Europe.
