Mandarin Oriental continues to raise the bar in luxury travel with the unveiling of its latest masterpiece—Villa Aegean, a sleek and sculptural private villa perched high above the Imerovigli Caldera in Santorini. Marking the 26th addition to its Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes collection, this ultra-modern five-bedroom, six-bathroom escape redefines Cycladic elegance.

Designed by Elastic Architects, the villa breaks away from traditional whitewashed aesthetics, embracing the island’s volcanic origins with striking black basalt stone throughout the property. “Our inspiration was the island’s volcanic stone,” notes architect Ria Vogiatzi, whose work with hospitality giants like Aman and Four Seasons is evident in every carefully sculpted curve. From its lava-like flow to intentional shadow gaps that welcome natural light, the architecture weaves together modern luxury and storytelling.

The designer embraced the natural colors of the island’s volcanic rock

Stepping inside, guests are welcomed into a space that feels more like an urban luxury suite than a coastal retreat. Vaulted ceilings, cutting-edge finishes, and subtle nods to Greek heritage create an immersive atmosphere, while outside, the black stone pool reflects the sky with mirror-like perfection. On the rooftop, panoramic views and breathtaking sunsets await.

The cliffside is a sunset mecca for the island

But Villa Aegean is more than just beautiful design—it’s an experience of service and serenity. “We call it our ‘exceptional service,’” says Ersev Demiroz, general manager of Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes. With access to a private chef, 24/7 concierge, daily housekeeping trained to MO standards, and safety protocols at the highest level, the villa ensures peace of mind and pure indulgence.

Guests can customize their stay with wine tastings, spa treatments, helicopter rides, water sports, and exclusive dining reservations—even a seat at Nobu is just a call away. With rates ranging from $4,145 to $7,770 per night, Villa Aegean is already drawing global interest, from American and European travelers to royalty from the GCC.

The space feels like a swish hotel suite

“This is our second property in Santorini,” adds Demiroz, “but this is a brand new, modern property. Very unique, very interesting, and we believe it will be a huge seller”

Villa Aegean isn’t just a vacation home—it’s a bold new chapter in Mediterranean luxury.
