There are train journeys—and then there’s this. This fall, the La Dolce Vita Orient Express is taking luxury travel to new heights (and fairways), launching two ultra-exclusive itineraries that turn Italy’s golf courses into your personal playground. Created in partnership with the Italian Golf Federation, these new routes aren’t just scenic—they’re designed to cement Italy’s status as a premier golf destination, where every tee-off is matched by Michelin-starred cuisine, velvety train cabins, and a backdrop straight out of a Fellini film.

Kicking off in October, the Northern Greens itinerary invites you to ride in five-star comfort from Rome through the country’s most iconic courses. Think a private reception at the Orient Express lounge in Rome’s Ostiense Station, followed by your first swing at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club—yes, the same course that hosted the 2023 Ryder Cup. From there, the journey flows through Franciacorta Golf Club in Brescia, Royal Park I Roveri in Piedmont, Antognolla Golf Club in Umbria, and Terme di Saturnia Natural SPA & Golf Resort in Tuscany. Each stop pairs technical clinics with competitive play, and yes—there’s a pro golfer onboard to guide your game.

Not to be outdone, the Italian Swing itinerary arrives in November, focusing on the rolling hills and coastal escapes of southern and central Italy. Golfers can tee off at San Domenico Golf Club in Puglia, the prestigious Castiglion del Bosco course in Tuscany, and Argentario Golf Club, Italy’s only PGA-licensed facility.
But this isn’t just about golf. It’s about indulgence at every turn. On board the train, guests enjoy plush private suites, white-glove service, and curated culinary experiences by Michelin three-star Chef Heinz Beck. Picture ending a round with aperitivo and freshly made pasta in a 1960s-inspired dining car, before retreating to your suite to watch the countryside roll past. It’s la dolce vita—golf edition.
This marks just the latest chapter for La Dolce Vita Orient Express, which only began operations in April and already offers eight bespoke itineraries across Italy. These new golf-focused routes blend heritage, sport, and style in a way only Orient Express can. Cabins start at €3,100—worth it, if you’re looking to play through Italy in absolute luxury.
You can book your journey now via the Orient Express website, but fair warning: these tee times aren’t for the masses.
