May 14PinkPantheress, the genre-blurring British artist behind the viral hit “Boy’s a Liar”, returns with her new mixtape Fancy That, a project that reintroduces her not as a reinvented pop star, but as a more self-assured, refined version of herself.

After stepping back from high-profile tours with Coldplay and Olivia Rodrigo in 2023 to focus on her mental well-being and creative direction, the 24-year-old delved into crafting a more specific sound. The result is Fancy That, a nine-track release laced with ‘90s and 2000s UK dance references, from trip-hop to jungle and garage.

The mixtape features standout tracks like “Illegal,” “Nice to Know You,” and “Romeo,” blending retro aesthetics with polished production and PinkPantheress’s signature sweet vocals. Singles like “Stateside” and “Tonight” showcase her matured sound, while still embracing her lo-fi roots.

Though she’s earned acclaim—including the Billboard Women in Music award for Producer of the Year—PinkPantheress insists she doesn’t see herself as a typical pop star. Eschewing glamour for authenticity, she embraces her “true-thousands” fashion style and DIY production ethos, aiming to inspire other young women of color in electronic music.

“I want to be here for the alt girls who like me”

She says, emphasizing her mission to represent those often left out of mainstream narratives.

Fancy That cements PinkPantheress’s position not just as a viral sensation, but as one of the most compelling voices in modern pop—on her own terms.
