With her signature blend of French elegance, velvet-toned vocals, and poetic vulnerability, Vendredi sur Mer returns to the music scene with a new chapter that feels more personal than ever. Her latest album, Malabar Princess, offers a stunning journey into raw emotion, anchored by her haunting collaboration with renowned pianist Sofiane Pamart on the single “Arrêter le temps.”

An exploration of love that endures beyond time, Malabar Princess sees Vendredi sur Mer peeling away the layers to reveal a soundscape rooted in her Swiss childhood. Intimate, cinematic, and deeply human, this album marks an evolution—a quiet revolution within her artistry.

“Arrêter le temps” came together in a moment of pure creative flow, written in just twenty minutes at Adrien Gallo’s studio. Its simplicity—only voice and piano—belies the depth of feeling contained within. “I wanted to speak about a relationship that never ends, even if time passes without seeing each other,” Vendredi shared.

The magic intensified when Sofiane Pamart joined the project. Known for his emotionally charged piano compositions, Pamart brought Vendredi’s words to life through music. “He translated every word into music,” she reflected. Listening to the finished track for the first time left her in awe—a perfect marriage of vulnerability and sound.

While previous albums Premiers émois and Métamorphose explored desire, transformation, and identity, Malabar Princess draws a line straight back to Vendredi’s origins. Inspired by the serene landscapes of Switzerland—the mountains, the changing seasons—this new collection of songs carries the crisp air of her homeland, woven with quiet nostalgia.

“Every album I make reflects a part of my life,” she said. “This one felt like a return to the calm and depth I sometimes miss in Paris. It was the thread that tied everything together”

The decision to include a piano-voice track was intentional—a tradition for Vendredi sur Mer, allowing listeners to experience an intimate, almost secret, corner of her creative world.

Vendredi sur Mer’s background in photography is ever-present in her musical process. She envisions soundscapes visually, blending sound and imagery into cohesive, emotional worlds. Her creative team, close friends she trusts implicitly, helped shape a visual direction for Malabar Princess that is joyful, simple, and profoundly personal.

“I wanted both the music and visuals to feel honest. That’s why I chose to work with people I truly love,” she explained.

Malabar Princess represents not just a sonic journey, but a personal one. It fuses the various sides of Vendredi sur Mer’s artistry—melding the sensuality of her early work with the clarity and peace she has found today.

“This third album feels like a fusion of everything I’ve lived and learned,” she said. “It’s closer to my true self”

Despite her growth, nostalgia remains a guiding force in her music—not as melancholy, but as a reverent acknowledgment of the past. And as her horizons expand, Vendredi dreams of continued exploration—traveling to new cities, reaching new audiences, and perhaps even collaborating with inspirations like Lorde.

With performances lined up for the year, Vendredi sur Mer is excited to bring the tender spirit of Malabar Princess to life on stage. Most of all, she hopes that listeners will connect to the music as deeply as she connected with its creation.

“I hope people find themselves in the songs—that they experience their own emotions through them,” she said, smiling.

In Malabar Princess, Vendredi sur Mer offers a world where time pauses, emotions speak louder than words, and the beauty of vulnerability takes center stage. It’s a gift: timeless, delicate, and undeniably her own.
