Waepril Chua didn’t break into beauty by being the loudest in the room. She’s not shouting about miracle serums or pushing trends she doesn’t believe in. What she does instead is more rare and more effective. She tells the truth!

Waepril “April” Chua, known as April to her 350,000+ Instagram followers, is a Canadian-based content creator who has built a loyal following by doing the one thing that too many skip: she actually uses the products before talking about them. No vague captions, no mysterious discount codes. Just direct commentary, short videos, and ingredient breakdowns that feel like they’re coming from someone who’s done her homework.

Her start wasn’t glamorous. “I had really bad acne as a teen,” she says. “It was just me trying to figure things out because nothing was working.” What began as personal problem-solving slowly became public. Friends started asking what she was using. Then strangers did. And somewhere between late-night product trials and early posts, a platform started to form.

After her father passed away, she got even more motivated. She leaned in harder. “It made me take things more seriously,” she says. “I wanted to keep building something real.” That “something” led to huge collaborations. Represented by Eliot Management, Waepril Chua has partnered with luxury brands like YSL Beauty, Armani, Prada, and Vichy. She even did paid campaigns with brands like Sewar. It also led to the recent launch of her own site, GlamByApril.com, where she shares reviews, routines, and product breakdowns in a more in-depth way than social platforms allow.

Recently, Waepril Chua was even invited to an intimate sit-down dinner hosted by Vichy in Vancouver for the launch of their Collagen 16 line. Obviously, there’s a reason they want her at the table. Her short, casual, direct content isn’t trying to impress anyone.

When you see her content, you can clearly see that April doesn’t fake excitement. If something’s overpriced, she’ll say so. If a product works but isn’t for everyone, she’ll explain why. And if something’s just hype with no substance, she’ll skip it entirely. It’s this kind of straight talk that keeps her following growing and engaged.

She’s also one of the few Canadian-based influencers navigating a market that still leans heavily on U.S. audiences.

“A lot of launches don’t even ship here,” she says. “So we’re left figuring out what’s accessible, what’s worth the effort, and what’s just noise”

That said, Waepril Chua is not trying to be everywhere. She’d rather be useful. Her content reflects that—clean, focused, and rarely trying to sell a lifestyle. She knows what it’s like to feel unsure in your own skin. She’s been there. That’s why she doesn’t gatekeep. And that’s exactly why her voice resonates with so many. Most of her videos are under a minute. They’re quiet, to the point, and make things simpler for people who are tired of being sold to.

Lastly, when asked how she defines success, she said,

“Success is when I’ve achieved something I really wanted”

You can definitely count Waepril Chua among the few beauty influencers who are genuinely worth following.
